5 One-dimensional audio parameterization

Introduction

The 1-D audio parameterization methods are well established and widely used in many of the computational bioacoustic tasks outlined in Chapter 3, and more specifically, those related to one-species detection (Section 3.1), species identification (Section 3.2), one-category recognition (Section 3.4), one-species recognition (Section 3.5), sound event-type recognition (Section 3.8), and so on. However, the use of 1-D audio parameterization methods in multi-label species identification task (cf. Sections 3.3) is somehow complicated.
