5 The GSL scientific library

Abstract: The GNU Scientific Library (GSL)24 is a collection of numerical tools for solving basic problems of computational mathematics. The library is written in the C programming language and distributed under the GNU General Public License25.

5.1 Preliminaries

The GSL library provides a large number of functions (more then 1000) for the numerical solution of systems of linear algebraic equations and ordinary differential equations (ODEs), as well as functions for working in such areas of computational mathematics as combinations, statistics, optimization etc.
