Other than lines, circles, text etc., most engineering and technical drawings consist of standard symbols that are used to represent standard components in everyday use. These range from fasteners in mechanical design, doors and windows in architecture, valves and gates in hydraulics, diodes, wires and resistors in electronic circuit designs.
