Abstract
This chapter aims to jump-start individuals interested in computer forensics and or data recovery. It also serves as a refresher for those already in the field and an eye opener for the future. This chapter discusses hard drive imaging, touching on challenges solid state drives pose and the necessary hardware and software tools needed for forensic investigations and data recovery. It is not data intensive but rather brief, and it serves as a refresher and short guide for those beginning in the field.
