9.4 Formation of several self-reproducing beams in different diffraction orders
The multiorder DOEs forming simultaneously multiple mode beams in different diffraction orders are used as spatial filters for the analysis of cross-modal composition of the light. They were discussed in detail in Chapter 8. However, in the prescribed diffraction orders of these DOE it is possible to shape beams not matched with separate orthogonal functions and matched with their linear combinations with certain properties. These DOEs provide additional opportunities for optical manipulation of microparticles and the mode multiplexing of transmission channels.
