Polymer injection molding is a complicated process. In this process, the part quality is related to the process conditions, polymer properties, mold structure, etc., and the relationship between the process and the part quality cannot be constructed simply. However, it is not efficient to fix a problem in production by varying the process conditions and mold structure based on a traditional trial-and-error method. So the scientific tools for injection molding process were urgently needed. For this reason, the simulation software of polymer injection molding process was developed and has been successfully applied. With this software, an imitation of the injection molding process is presented, and it is far better to avoid problems in the design phase than to fix them in production on the basis of scientific simulation of the injection molding process.

In this chapter mainly the development of simulation software for polymer injection molding is introduced, and how such software can be strategically applied is discussed. The role of computer simulation in the polymer injection molding process is illustrated.
