12.1 INTRODUCTION
The Internet is a wonderful resource, and many consider it to be a life-changing technology. As with every new technology, there are opportunities both to do good and to do harm. This chapter explores some of the human threats that may arise when people interact using the Internet. Some of the discussed threats are new to the Internet, while some are no different from threats typically faced in the real world. It should be noted that some of the issues discussed in this chapter are serious and can be life threatening.
