Configuration management (CM) plays a critical role in any technology development effort. I have been involved with implementing and supporting CM for more than 25 years, and much of what I am about to discuss comes directly from my own personal experience. I have implemented and supported each of these CM practices, often with the agreement that I could be woken in the middle of the night if my processes/automation did not work as expected.
