Chapter 20. System Performance Monitoring Tools

Many monitoring tools are available today for the Solaris Operating Environment. Commercial tools such as BMC Best/1 offer capacity planning functionality and sophisticated monitoring capabilities. BMC Patrol and other such tools offer event mechanisms to notify the user if an exception occurs. All of the commercial tools automatically graph the key elements of system behavior, such as CPU utilization.
