Informix XPS Monitoring
We begin by considering the main utilities provided by Informix to monitor XPS. We also examine ways of configuring XPS, generating query execution plans, and monitoring buffer pool behavior.
Examining Informix Utilities
XPS includes a number of utilities for accessing, managing, and monitoring database instances. Of these, the onstat utility is probably the most important for monitoring. It monitors many aspects of coserver activity and reports various XPS statistics, some of which are reviewed later in the chapter. Running onstat with the - argument lists the available options.
