Tuning Informix XPS
Achieving optimal tuning of XPS requires attention to parallel features, memory, I/O, and CPU, data load, and interserver communication.
Tuning Parallel Features
No single parameter establishes query parallelism in XPS. Instead, query parallelism is determined by a number of factors, including the number of available coservers, the number of VPs per coserver, data fragmentation, and query complexity. If data required by a query is fragmented across coservers, for example, then those coservers must all participate before the query can complete successfully.
Tuning Memory
Both the buffer pool and DS memory must be tuned for effective XPS performance. We examine the parameters available for memory tuning and consider ways ...
