Explanation of CO Updates
One of the more difficult and critical SAP topics to learn is how costs flow through the CO module. The concepts of object type, object class, and real versus statistical postings are foreign to most individuals. The key to understanding this is to recognize that CO activity is tracked for management reporting only. It is not subject to statutory accounting or reporting requirements. The CO module is governed by the rules of cost accounting assignments and internal/external movements. Of these concepts, internal CO activity movements are possibly the most difficult to understand.
