Cohen and Bradford (2005) in their book Influence Without Authority argued that in order to achieve mutual goals people continuously exchange ‘currencies’. The most valued are: inspiration, task, position, relationship and personal. They explained that knowing what matters to you and others can help you achieve better outcomes in a much more participative style.
