At the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, General Motors announced a move that was unlike any other in the company's 104-year history. Starting with its 2014 models, the carmaker would incorporate smartphone-like applications into its dashboard infotainment systems. GM, however, would not be the maker of the vast majority of these apps.
