Preface to the Second Edition
Until 2020, the MRCGP exam included a Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA). Under pandemic conditions, this was temporarily replaced by the Recorded Consultation Assessment (RCA). As of November 2023, the RCA has in turn been superseded by the Simulated Consultation Assessment (SCA). This second edition of Consulting in a Nutshell has been updated, with GP trainees in mind, to reflect this latest configuration of the MRCGP. Exam candidates can be reassured that the new exam format does not call for any change in their communication and consulting skills.
