A new alternative to Ethernet, wireless, and phone line networks is called powerline networking. This technology promises to offer a new way to connect devices and appliances within the home by using existing electrical infrastructure. It actually uses your home’s electrical wiring system to provide the network connection via any electrical outlet. One of the benefits of this method is the ubiquity of connections already installed in the home—often two or more electrical outlets per room compared to just a handful of phone-line connections per entire home.
