Evolutionary C omputation
Ev olution is the process of change in the genetic makeup of populations. Nat-
ural selection is the process by which organisms which have traits that better
enable them to adapt to environmental pressures will tend to survive and re-
produce in greater numbers than other similar organisms, thereby increasing
the existence of those favorable traits in future generations.
Evolutionary computation endeavors to obtain approximate solutions
to problems such as optimization problems using the evolutionary mechanisms
