1Conventional Holography

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Holography is perhaps the best experimental discovery since the invention of lasers in 1961. Though the original concept of holography was conceptulated in 1948 by British scientist Denis Gabor[1,2], real experimental demonstration had to wait till the invention of lasers by Charles Hard Townes in 1960. Previously we know that photography can record an image of an object which is basically two dimension. The real difference between understanding a 2 dimensional image and three dimensional image is to record information about phase of light beams.
