5Digital holography
5.1 INTRODUCTION
In computer generated holography, we numerically construct hologram of an object and then physically reconstruct the hologram with a laser beam. On the other hand digital holography records physically the hologram of an object on a CCD/CMOS array and the holographic image is reconstructed numerically using a computer. Thus Computer Generated Holography(CGH) and Digital holography techniques are complimentary. In the early days of holography, some research was done using television transmission of holograms. In that the holograms were performed directly on the photosensitive layer of a TV camera tube, and the interference signal was transmitted through the television channel.
