5Digital holography

5.1 INTRODUCTION

In computer generated holography, we numerically construct hologram of an object and then physically reconstruct the hologram with a laser beam. On the other hand digital holography records physically the hologram of an object on a CCD/CMOS array and the holographic image is reconstructed numerically using a computer. Thus Computer Generated Holography(CGH) and Digital holography techniques are complimentary. In the early days of holography, some research was done using television transmission of holograms.
