2.5.1 Broadland Housing, Fulmodeston and Barney, Norfolk
The Project
Sitting on the edges of Fulmodeston and Barney, surrounded by fields, these two housing schemes have created ‘barns in the landscape’ rather than a typical domestic, close-boarded-fence suburbia. The scheme at Fulmodeston also meets Passivhaus standards.
Mole Architects (founder Meredith Bowles) have been producing witty Contemporary Vernacular Design for quite some time. Notable schemes include the Black House (Bowles’ own home), Pinstripe and Stackyard. The project described here was their first attempt at Passivhaus.
