The Project
This was the UK’s first new-build co-housing scheme. Timber-framed and clad homes offer very breathable spaces. The community has a good range of young and old members, and houses here are highly sought after.
Springhill was David Michael’s first scheme as a developer. He approached Pat Borer of the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) after reading his Whole House Book. Borer suggested that he work with Architype, due to their reputation for ‘radical self-build’. Architype and Borer designed the scheme, and Architype delivered it.
