Case Study: TravelPerk

For our last case study, we will learn about continuous deployment in the context of a rapidly growing startup: TravelPerk. Javier Tejero (director of architecture) and Roberto Mosca (principal software engineer) will share details about TravelPerk’s continuous deployment culture, which started early and grew alongside the company. Both of them work in the Foundations team, which is the team responsible for the overall platform and infrastructure of the company.

TravelPerk’s Context

TravelPerk is a hyper-growth business travel management platform. The platform aims to innovate business travel with an end-to-end solution that gives travelers freedom while providing their companies with more control. The company is headquartered in Barcelona, with business hubs in London; Birmingham, England; Edinburgh; Berlin; Chicago; Boston; and Miami.

TravelPerk today is valued at over $1.4 billion, following a recent additional $104 million raised through a D1 extension investment round in January 2024, backed by new investor SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and existing investors Kinnevik and Felix Capital. With this funding infusion, TravelPerk will increase investment into its platform, enhancing the customer experience through new inventory capabilities and launching new business travel services, as well as expanding product automation through AI.
