Hierarchical Control of Linear Systems

This chapter presents a BPF approach to hierarchical control of linear time-invariant/time-varying systems with quadratic cost functions. Owing to the elegant operational properties of BPFs, the computational formulations for the interaction prediction method are shown to be purely algebraic. The resulting solutions are piecewise constant with minimal mean-square error. The suggested approach is computationally simple and attractive. Three illustrative examples are included to show the applicability of the approach.
