The increased demands for greater performance and availability on wireless LANs (WLAN) create new requirements for the next-generation design of WLANs. The additional requirements are driving additional design considerations beyond the earlier-generation WLAN designs. The next generation of wireless networks is no longer just a convenience or an extension to the existing wired network.
