EPILOGUE:AN IMPENDING PERIOD OF INTENSE CHANGE

Announced in December 2015 at Autodesk University, construction document management beta Project Alexandria became Autodesk BIM 360 Docs. Usable on iPhones and iPads, working through a web browser, BIM 360 Docs, a cloud-based document management system developed in-house at Autodesk for reviewing and collaborating on project files, enables work to happen faster by providing project teams with the right information when they need it, and by enabling the project team to publish, manage, review, and approve project documents and models in the cloud.1 BIM 360 Docs advertises itself as “One app. Period. Using different apps for blueprint viewing, PDF markups, issue management, and file sharing leaves teams out of sync. Get everything in one place—and accessible on the Web, tablets and phones—to always stay current and connected.”2

Figure shows convergence diagram in which streamlining information and project workflow forms interoperability, user interface and ease of use forms accessibility, collaboration and complexity forms interdisciplinarity, etcetera.
