Structure and Storytelling

Introduction

In newspapers, we call them “pieces.” Online, we call them “articles.” In broadcast, we call them “packages.” Regardless of the field or the jargon, these things are all stories and, for them to be effective, we need to use quality storytelling as we communicate our messages.

Storytelling is a skill and art as old as humankind. Whether we are talking about ancient people who gathered around the fire to tell the stories of a triumphant hunt or discussing a novel we just finished reading, stories have a number of key elements.
