CHAPTER 8 Conversations for Accountability
Whenever I would mention my desire to accomplish something, a mentor of mine would ask, “How will I know when it has been accomplished?” He was looking for me to share with him the measurable results, and he wanted to get a commitment that I would inform him of the action steps and the results. A typical conversation between us would have sounded like this:
Shawn: Bill, I want to create a great sales training seminar. Doing so builds on the things you have been teaching me, and I see it as a logical next step.
Bill: Shawn, how will I know you are making progress?
Shawn: Hmm, good question, Bill. I will prepare the content for a oneday sales seminar and create the draft copy of the participants’ workbook ...
