Chapter 12. Volatile Managers
Everything Upsets Me
Some managers are volatile and have a short fuse that burns with remarkable speed when they are under stress. If you catch them on the wrong day, you may face a deluge as their anger pours out in response to trivial issues. It can seem as if they were almost looking for someone to yell at, and you had the misfortune to be the one who walked into their office. Although caustic when upset they can also be very nice, leaving you confused about what to expect from one minute to the next. Since you do not know when they will be in one of their moods and you may inadvertently step on a hidden landmine, you are likely to be constantly on guard and ill at ease.
