5 Predominant Corporate Philosophical Approaches

Introduction

By articulating the relationship between the corporation and the natural world, corporate environmental reporting implicitly draws from western attitudes towards nature. Since this relationship is associated with current environmental damage, it is useful to closely examine the values with which it is informed. In order to explore these underpinning values, in this chapter I examine the corporate relationship with nature through the lens of western environmental philosophy. This chapter explores how western environmental philosophy is conveyed in contemporary corporate reports.
