When one of the organizers asked me to speak in this conference, I agreed primarily because I have spent a good part of my life in Loyola. As I studied there for five years, I naturally spent a lot of my time there. In all those five years, I learnt only two things in economics: one was that there is no such thing as a free lunch, and the second was that in the long run, we are all dead. I do not know for sure if either of these statements is related to economics, but I suspect they both are.
