The global economic crisis of the past decade put significant focus on the issue of regulation, and particularly transnational regulations. Whether seen as part of the cause of the breakdown or a remedy for the problems of global financial markets, regulations of transnational financial institutions and transactions were significantly developed in the wake of the global financial crisis.
