Ideas are communicated in various ways. In a typical conversation, they are exchanged verbally in the form of words, gestures, and inflections. On the printed page, they are read. In sound media, such as radio, they are heard. In visual media, viewers actually see and hear those ideas created as “live” motion picture events. This motion picture element makes television and films powerful and popular communication tools. For this reason, the process of shaping a previously developed creative concept into a well-written treatment is also important.
