8 Spatial MO.O.N.: Emulative-inferring
8.1. To spatialize the world without “seeing” it
“Spatial intelligence is the ability to act in a spatial universe by constructing a mental representation of it” [GAR 04, p. 30].
“Although you can tell or write the exact description of forms, a painter can represent them so that they appear alive, with the shadow and light that create the expressions of faces; what your pen does not have the power to accomplish, the brush does” Leonardo da Vinci.
The spatial MO.O.N. operates from its emulative-inferring core component, which gives it, for example, the possibility of emulating reality as if the person were “living” it. The person can then imagine a real object, or create a mental object and give it life, that is, animate it as much as give it a direction and a “realistic story”. We must keep in mind that the spatial MO.O.N. does not imply sight. Indeed, the parietal lobe is one of the “operators” of this skill: to “create” a 3D representation of the spatial arrangement of the outer world and our body within this representation, to create the symbolic representation of the spatial disposition of the world, and to optimize the ability to move in space. But, if “everyone” has this neural “capacity”, no one deploys the spatial MO.O.N. skill. For example, numerous assessments have shown us that some people, especially those with a logical-mathematical tendency, were unable to emulate the metaphorical meaning that a comic strip or a video ...
