17.1. Formalizing an operating sheet: TalentHability

Many organizations use “cards” to formalize jobs, functions, missions and competencies. The vast majority are formal and written in the abstract declarative mode. In other words, the writings speak in concept(s), but generally do not allow the aptitude, the mission or the competency to figure in an explicit way in the mind of the person. The other key aspect, which is not taken into account much a priori, is the explanation of meanings relating to words so that the different audiences that are supposed to communicate together can perceive “the same thing”, which amounts to figuratively showing what the meaning (the word) implies. The evidence, let us recall, is what is no longer thought. TalentHability (a mission operating sheet) is useful for developing and explaining principles and indicators favorable to the assessment, development and recruitment of “talents” and competencies that are useful for a mission. The drafting of the latter is held by the observable and assessable result. We are talking about results, not objectives. An objective is achieved, but an outcome is actualized. The achievement of the objective underlies a measure. The latter is subject to the activity conducted by the person (and them alone), as well as to a small external variation.
