14Confidence Is a Habit
As women, we often work from a deficit that predisposes our mindset to scarcity instead of abundance. It's rare that we wake up fully rested, energized, prepared, and confident. We might have some of those elements, and we may start our days with all of those intentions, but we typically feel and operate from a place of deficiency instead of abundance. And our mindset around our careers, unfortunately, is no different.
So the million‐dollar question becomes, and I get asked this a lot, How do I show up consistently from a place of abundance? The second critical question that follows is, How do I show up authentically myself and with confidence?
I would not dare suggest that I have the perfect answer or strategy, but I do want to offer habits that are tried, tested, and true for me and my clients. My clients say these habits were and continue to be the catalyst, a game changer even, regarding how they showed up in any room. These habits continually help them remember their value, come into awareness about how they talk about themselves, and motivate them to execute on their career goals, particularly when navigating a career transition or when seeking a promotion or pursuing work‐life integration.
Those habits include:
- Daily affirmations
- Weekly recap
- Regular reflection and journaling (talk about morning pages)
- Engagement with community
- Commit to re‐creation
- Move your body
