Chapter 3Working in Photoshop

PHOTOSHOP IS A very different beast from its largely more intuitive companion Lightroom. This chapter is designed to get you up to speed with the essential concepts necessary for success. We’ll start by optimizing your preference settings and establishing a versatile, non-destructive workflow. In doing so, you’ll learn how to effectively combine retouching via layers, adjustment layers, and layer masks. We’ll then dive into the most essential features, including selections, masks, retouching tools, layers, and adjustments. You’ll also gain a fundamental understanding of Curves and Hue/Saturation, the dynamic duo that can be used to fulfill the majority of your adjustment needs.
