Choosing the right materials for your online course is key for the user’s success and experience. Figuring out which platform to use helps determine instruction too. Depending on the course and the platform, it may make sense to select materials before you decide on assignments or vice versa.
Comparing and contrasting different formats of resources will provide advantages and disadvantages for users’ different preferences, time needs, and engagement desires. Whether the material offered is in the form of reading, video, audio, activities, or documents, you can offer an assortment of options. Evaluating the quality and relevance will help you provide resources that support users’ needs, interests, and context.
When I first started creating online courses, my resources were scarce, but once I understood users' needs, my needs, and types of materials available or I could create, I was able to create credible, quality, and relevant material.
