Animation Stand Camerawork

 

A film camera which records one frame at a time is used in the making of animated cartoons or graphs (or even flat three-dimensional objects such as cigarette packs or chocolates, etc.). This camera has rock-steady movements and uses special film with accurately punched sprocket holes. Mounted on a shakeproof vertical column, the camera is suspended over the animation bench on which sheets of artwork can be filmed while being manipulated via a series of rack-and-pinion controls.

For cartoon animation, drawings painted on clear cel are photographed sequentially, each one being placed over a peg bar to ensure accurate registration.
