In this chapter, I want to demonstrate a step-by-step approach to rendering (painting) an image. This is usually a very personal process, since every artist has different preferences and methods. Some artists like to go straight into blocking out colour and build their image from there, others would rather construct their design with clean line art first. It is definitely worth exploring different techniques and finding something that really works for you. Personally, I admire fully rendered, highly detailed character paintings but professionally, I prefer doing quick sketches and graphic, flat colours.
