Extreme Macro Photography
Extreme closeup photography requires unusual equipment. Normal extension tubes and closeup lenses no longer suffice if you wish to shoot at magnifications of 4x or more. You can use a macro lens with extension tubes or a highly specialized lens, such as the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8. Reversing rings can be used to convert just about any lens into an extreme macro lens. Photographing an insect’s compound eye is a particularly challenging photographic exercise, but the results are often fantastic.
