The word blog has become so familiar that many people don’t realize that it comes from the contraction of two words, “web” and “log.” A blog is a series of short, informal articles called blog posts on a website, usually arranged in reverse chronological order, so the most recent entry is displayed first. These posts usually contain some combination of text, photos, videos, and other media.
Most blogs are personal observances or opinions, and most enable readers to respond to them with comments, so that a conversation can develop between the reader and the blogger, and also between the readers themselves. In this sense, blogging is a unique, interactive medium.
Writing a blog allows everyone who has access to a computer or smartphone to have a voice, which can potentially reach almost everyone in the world. It also acts as a great marketing tool for writers who want to promote their work online.
