12.1 Introduction
Majority of the products you have encountered are manufactured using sheet metals (Figure 12.1). The sheet metals are used in air‐conditioning ducts and furnace flues, air cowls, awnings, canopies, electronic enclosures, roofs, gutters, etc. Every time you receive or ship a product in mailboxes, you are using the sheet metal product. Sheet metal products are punched, stamped, or burned out of flat material and bent to the required shape.
In this chapter, we will learn sheet metal tools, their similarities, and how they differ from each other to product the needed product model. Additionally, we will learn how to generate a sheet metal drawing on the template we custom developed on Chapter 5.
