This chapter examines the different avenues by which crimeware authors can profit from their activities. The first part of this chapter presents an overview of the various mechanisms. The last part of the chapter describes one of these avenues, adware, at a more basic level. These two portions are relatively self-contained, and the reader can peruse each independently of the other.
