GENERAL INTRODUCTION

Critical realism is a movement in philosophy and the human sciences and cognate practices most closely associated with – in the sense of identified with or emanating from – though by no means restricted to – the work of Roy Bhaskar. This movement is now fully international and multi-disciplinary and arguably in the quarter century since the initial publication of A Realist Theory of Science (1975) has transformed the intellectual scene.
