Chapter 4. It's Not What It Costs, It's What It Saves: Budget and Return on Investment

A work-breakdown-structure and a schedule give us insight into the time and resources needed to perform our proposed test project, covering all the quality risks identified earlier to the extent proposed during the quality risk analysis. However, we're still missing one important perspective on the testing effort, the financial one. In this step of the estimation process, I'll discuss how we can create, from our work-breakdown-structure, a budget that aligns us with the financial constraints of the project. Armed with both the budget and the schedule, we'll have a complete estimate that can serve as our initial proposal to management.
