The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code System

The SIC code system is based on the four-digit standard classification system established by the U.S. federal government. This system categorizes businesses into the following broad industry groups represented by the first two digits in the four-digit numeral. The third and fourth digits identify subgroups within each category.

Division A: Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing

Division B: Mining
