CHAPTER 10
Wireless Radio Systems
In this chapter, you will learn about
• The basics of radio waves
• What is required to transmit and receive wireless radio signals
• How the right antenna setup makes a difference
Every time people connect to the Internet or a local area network (LAN) without using a cable, they are using radio waves to carry data. When a presenter speaks to an audience using a wireless microphone, radio waves transmit the audio information. A global positioning system (GPS) uses radio waves to transmit location information. Many remote control devices for audiovisual (AV) equipment use radio waves. Broadcast television and radio signals are received via radio waves transmitted from antenna towers.
