In an old school building in the Pasadena Unified School District, 15 teachers, representing different grades and subjects and different types of learners, hiked up steep stairs carrying their computers and books to Leakana Nhem's second-floor classroom.
They were the 18th cohort group of teachers to experience Design-Based Learning through Cal Poly's two-year master's degree program or one-year Certificate program. Each cohort selected a place for its weekly four-hour evening class meetings.
