Mrs. Etse, a 28-year-old Micronesian woman, began to complain of appetite loss and multiple aches and pains about two weeks prior to presentation. She had consulted the local folk medicine practitioner, and was treated with an unidentified herbal preparation, which did not relieve her symptoms.
