Case 1

A 15-year-old Filipino female was admitted to an adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit because of lack of sleep, not eating, withdrawal, isolation, inability or refusal to communicate, “bizarre behaviors” such as turning up the television in the “wee” hours of the morning, “hearing voices,” and threats of killing herself if she were removed from home and placed elsewhere, such as in a hospital.
